Featured with a 40 MHz onboard microprocessor, the National Instruments VXIpc-486 Model 240 is an Embedded Computer. The default configuration of this device enables it to assume the role of a VXI controller. This Embedded Computercomes equipped with multiple communication interfaces including (but not limited to) LPT, GPIB, VGA, and COM1/2 interfaces.
The GPIB or IEEE 488 interface included on this device is fully compatible with NI-488.2 architecture. The VXIpc-486 is offered in two variations: VXIpc-486/1 and VXIpc-486/2. Generally, the VXIpc-486 Model 240 is deployed to serve as a VXIbus Slot #0 System Controller and controls the system clock driver, Bus Arbiter, Bus Timer, and System Reset driver. However, you can reconfigure this device according to your system resources and existing hardware resources.
The VXIpc-486/1 comes with an internal hard disk drive and requires 1 VXIbus slot. The VXIpc-486/2 requires 2 VXIbus slots and can be deployed in multiple hard disk drive, floppy driver, and I/O expansion kit combinations. This model features a robust front panel that has various LED indicators and a wide range of interface connectors. The “Turbo” LED provided on the front panel of this embedded computer indicates the processor is operating at its maximum frequency.
The External CLK10 connector provided on this device is an SMB type connector to deal with TTL CLK10 I/O signals. Moreover, the VXIpc-486 Model 240 has 1 External Trigger Input and 1 External Audio/Trigger Output connector as well. The main VXIbus connector incorporated in this embedded computer is a 96-pin DIN connector.
VXIpc-486 Model 240 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the Embedded Computer will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
